The best word to describe Gypsy Blood’s history is family. After playing together in the early 1980s, Michael Tester and Olsen reunited after 17 years not making music together to form the beginnings of what would become Gypsy Blood.
The additional members came from within the band’s circle: Michael’s wife, Janet, soon joined on bass and, after a successful jaunt as a three-piece bluegrass band, its line-up was solidified with his son Derek filling in on drums. This quartet is the personnel heard on the band’s recently released debut self-titled EP.
