Matt Budd and Levi Bailey formed Spit For Athena in 2001 in Coldwater, MI. They'd both been in punk bands together, and decided they'd like to continue making music together. They convinced Melanie Cumming to pick up the bass, and together they recorded and released three albums (two on Friction and one on New Jersey's Eyeball Records) and an EP (Friction), played a shit-ton of Michigan shows, toured a couple times, and tried not to fall asleep at the wheel.
Mark Larmee replaced Melanie in 2006, and they released "Tammy" on Self-Satisfied. Things are all messy now...Matt/Mark/Levi are still technically together, and a nice guy named Dan sometimes fills in on drums when Matt can't make it, and now Levi is playing with Brandon and Sam (Hot Tapes, Victory!).
